We, at Bangor Parks and Recreation, are excited to introduce our new Counselor in Training (CIT) program.  With our CIT program we are looking for individuals between the ages of 13-16, who enjoy working with children, are willing to take initiative and be part of our Bangor Blast team.  These candidates must be able to work in a fun and ever changing environment, be a positive role model to children, as well as being enthusiastic and creative. This is a great opportunity for students to gain valuable work experience, while enhancing their resumes, accumulating volunteer/service learning hours and having a great time! What is a CIT program?Our CIT program will work as a bridge between camper and becoming a counselor.  In this program the CIT’s will learn to be leaders, role models and understand that working and playing hard can create an amazing summer camp experience for all.  The program will begin one week prior to summer camp and go on throughout the 8 weeks of Bangor Blast Summer Camp, each CIT choosing a minimum of 2 weeks to attend.  The CIT’s will learn about being a camp counselor, our mission and be an active part of building a successful camp for children grades Pre K to 6th grade.    Requirements: Ages 13-16 Must fill out and return CIT application CIT interview Must attend trainings and a minimal of 2 weeks of Summer Camp $75 Program fee per 2 week sessions All Counselor in Training Registrants will automatically be directed to a wait list.  Once CIT application is complete, it can be emailed to trisha.cummings@bangormaine.gov or turned in at Bangor Parks and Recreation, 647 Main Street, Bangor, Maine.  Once accepted you will then be moved from the waiting list into the program.

What is a CIT program?Our CIT program will work as a bridge between camper and becoming a counselor.  In this program the CIT’s will learn to be leaders, role models and understand that working and playing hard can create an amazing summer camp experience for all.  The program will begin one week prior to summer camp and go on throughout the 8 weeks of Bangor Blast Summer Camp, each CIT choosing a minimum of 2 weeks to attend.  The CIT’s will learn about being a camp counselor, our mission and be an active part of building a successful camp for children grades Pre K to 6th grade.    Requirements: Ages 13-16 Must fill out and return CIT application CIT interview Must attend trainings and a minimal of 2 weeks of Summer Camp $75 Program fee per 2 week sessions All Counselor in Training Registrants will automatically be directed to a wait list.  Once CIT application is complete, it can be emailed to trisha.cummings@bangormaine.gov or turned in at Bangor Parks and Recreation, 647 Main Street, Bangor, Maine.  Once accepted you will then be moved from the waiting list into the program.
