Youth Cheer 2026
Bangor Recreation Cheer – Grades 2–5
Get ready to cheer! Bangor Parks & Recreation is excited to offer a recreational cheer program for athletes in grades 2–5.This program is designed to introduce and develop cheerleading skills in a fun, positive, and team-focused environment. Throughout the season, athletes will learn and practice jumps, tumbling, stunts, dance, motions, and performance skills while working together to build a competition routine. The team will practice every Sunday from 5:30–7:00 PM beginning November 1, 2026, with the season running through March 2027. Additional practices may be added during competition weeks or in the weeks leading up to competitions to allow the team extra time to prepare. Families will be notified in advance of any additional practice dates.
Athletes will have the opportunity to showcase everything they have learned by participating in two local cheer competitions, including the Maine State Cheer Championship on February 28, 2027, in Bangor, Maine.
Attendance & Team Commitment
Cheerleading is a team sport, and every athlete plays an important role in the team's routine. Stunts, formations, transitions, and other portions of the routine rely on athletes practicing together consistently.By registering for this program, families are committing to regular attendance at practices and scheduled competitions. We understand that illnesses, emergencies, and unavoidable conflicts happen; however, families should make every effort to have their athlete attend all scheduled practices, particularly as competitions approach.Additional practices may be scheduled during competition weeks or in the weeks leading up to a competition. Advance notice will be provided whenever possible. All parents/guardians will be required to review and sign an Attendance & Team Commitment Acknowledgement as part of the registration process.
